About us

Who We Are

The Uganda Alliance of Patients’ Organizations (UAPO) is a national umbrella body that unites patient-led and patient-centered groups across Uganda.
Founded in 2011, UAPO serves as the national voice for patients, advocating for safer, equitable, and patient-centered healthcare systems that respect the rights, dignity, and needs of every individual. We bring together over 20 member organizations representing people living with chronic and lifelong conditions — from diabetes, sickle cell disease, and epilepsy to cancer, mental health, and HIV/AIDS.

Vision

Ensuring all patients are central to healthcare, research, innovation, and equitable development.

We envision a future where patients in Uganda are empowered, informed, and meaningfully involved in decisions that affect their health and wellbeing.

Mission

To support patients with chronic and lifelong conditions in accessing quality, safe, and patient-centered healthcare services through advocacy, innovation, and research.

Core Values

Our core values guide every action we take—fostering professionalism, integrity, teamwork, and customer care to build a safer, more respectful, and accountable community.

Member Organisations

A united network of patient-led organisations across Uganda working together to amplify patient voices, share knowledge, and advance safer, equitable, and people-centred healthcare for all communities.
